One mom spent 20 hours combing 150 velcro-like toys out of her daughter’s hair in what sounds like a complete nightmare! The two had just finished virtual school when they went to play with some Bunchems, tiny Velcro-like balls that get stuck together. Little brother Noah decided to be the little jokester that he is and dump a full container of those little balls on his sister’s head.
“I think I had an out-of-body experience,” Lisa said after seeing her daughter’s hair. “She had about 150 of these things layered and matted in her hair. They made it worse trying to remove them theirselves because the connect together kinda like Velcro.”

The mom of two reveals that it took 3 hours just to get 15 of the Velcro-like balls out of her daughter Abigail’s hair. It was when her husband Dan got home that they began researching resolutions to the issue, and realized it was much more severe than they anticipated. “It suggested using conditioner and vegetable oil to loosen it but that made it worse and so messy,” Lisa says.

Abigail ended up going to bed with some of the balls still tangled in her hair because her parents just couldn’t have them stay up any longer (at 1 a.m. to be specific). The following day, Lisa purchased mineral oil and a detangling comb to prepare herself for another several hours of this toy removal from Abigail’s hair.
Spreading awareness about these sticky toys
It was after a lot of tears and 20 hours of “pulling and working them out of her head and lots of hair loss,” they were finally out! They had to follow up the painful experience with “an hour or more in the bath tub with conditioner” for Abigail.
“I feel like we had a miracle with all of our prayers. We saved her hair and although it is thinner it wasn’t as damaged and ruined as I thought so Thank you God !!!” Lisa writes. Lisa is now trying to spread awareness about these sticky toys to help other parents and prevent them from experiencing this nightmare. “This will be something we will never forget very traumatic experience in the Hoelzle house hold this weekend.”
