His filmography is a full one, spanning Tony-winning successes like Luv, comedic acting on Get Smart, and even work directing for The Sunshine Boys. His talents have been recognized with a Tony Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Growing up, he actually attended several different colleges and dropped out at least three times. When his educational career was in the rearview mirror, Arkin briefly sang and played guitar with folk group the Tarriers, who released the top-five hit single "The Banana Boat Song." But one branch of his education Arkin had stuck to was his acting lessons, ongoing throughout childhood, and that was how he wanted to make a name for himself. Not many actors can say they were nominated for an Oscar for their very first starring role, but Arkin wasn't any other actor, and he was nominated for his role as Rozanov in 1966's, The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming. One of his most recent triumphs came from his starring role in Netflix's The Kominsky Method from 2018 to 2019, which earned him two consecutive Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nominations.
