John Candy was truly a powerhouse of comedic energy, being able to make anyone laugh. He is best remembered for his roles in the films Stripes,\u00a0Splash,\u00a0Cool Runnings,\u00a0Summer Rental,\u00a0Home Alone,\u00a0The Great Outdoors,\u00a0Spaceballs, Uncle Buck,\u00a0and the Thanksgiving-time classic\u00a0Planes, Trains and Automobiles.\u00a0\r\n\r\nWhile we all remember him as being able to give the gift of laughter to anyone he came across, his kids remember him differently. Jennifer and Christopher, his children, remember the very last times they spoke to their dad. He would soon pass away unexpectedly at the age of 43 in 1994.\r\nJohn Candy's kids remember the last time they speak to their dad\r\n\r\n\r\nJen and Chris open up to The Hollywood Reporter about their final encounters with their late dad. \u201cI was nine. It was a Friday,\u201d Chris remembers. \u201cI remember talking to him the night before he passed away and he said, \u2018I love you and goodnight.\u2019 And I will always remember that.\u201d\r\n\r\nRELATED:\u00a0Ryan Reynolds Pays Tribute To John Candy On The 25th Anniversary Of His Death\r\n\r\nJen says she remembers her dad from the night before. \u201cI was studying for a vocabulary test. I was 14... So I was talking to him on the phone, and, I hate this, but I was slightly distant because I was studying. So I was like, \u2018Yeah, OK, I love you. I will talk to you later. Have a great night.\u2019 Then I hang up, and I go back to studying.\u201d\r\nThey call him an "amazing talent"\r\n\r\n\r\nThe following day, Candy's kids had been attending a school mass when they received the tragic news that their father had passed away. Jen and Chris remember both "erupting" into tears. \u201cWe found out that it was a\u00a0heart attack pretty immediately,\u201d Chris says. \u201cI just remember going \u2018Why?\u2019 because it doesn\u2019t make any sense when you\u2019re that young. I remember people coming over immediately; Chevy Chase coming over and family coming in that evening from Canada.\u201d\r\n\r\nChris adds while remembering his late father, \u201cHe was an amazing talent, an amazing force. He was on this planet to do a lot, and he did do a lot.\u201d\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThese two continue to carry out their late father's legacy.
