Renowned for his warm presence and impeccable comedic timing, John Candy captivated audiences with his unforgettable performances in iconic films such as Home Alone, Cool Runnings, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Sadly, on March 4, 1994, tragedy struck when the beloved actor suffered a fatal heart attack at the young age of 43, leaving behind his wife, Rosemary, and their two young children. It’s been three decades since the legend’s death, and his children, Jennifer and Chris, recently paid a heartfelt tribute to him.

Jennifer Candy-Sullivan took to her Instagram to post a sweet throwback family photo of herself with her late father and younger brother, Chris Candy, posing with John outdoors. “30 years ago today… feels like both a lifetime with and without you,” she wrote in the caption. “I miss you and love you forever.” Christopher also shared a tribute to their dad, posting a snap of Candy sporting his signature Hawaiian print. “All my love to my father today,” he wrote.

During an interview with Today, Jennifer shared poignant memories of her late father. She reflected on how Candy prioritized his family while making career decisions. “He was the best dad, he’d say, ‘Don’t worry what people think about you. Just be your authentic self,” she shared. “The other thing about my dad is that he was the ultimate family guy. That’s the reason he didn’t want to do ‘Saturday Night Live’. He knew the lifestyle wasn’t going to be healthy for him. He was smart in that way.”

Fans of John Candy took to the comment section of Jennifer and Christopher’s Instagram post to express their feelings. Some reminisced about their favorite memories of the beloved actor. “There is nothing like a John Candy movie,” a fan wrote. “I can’t even begin to imagine what he was like as a father.❤️ sending you love.”

“Loved your Dad. Many of my favourite memories as a kid included him!❤,” an Instagram user commented while another person stated. “I still remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. Your dad is so missed and revered by so so many. Hugs to you today!”

Some others took time out to share words of comfort to Candy’s two children. “Sending you so much love today and always❤,” a fourth person wrote while someone else commented. “Thought about you this morning as I saw it’s been 30 years. đź’”Sending my love I lost my brother nearly 22 years ago, he was 18. And my dad nearly 4 years ago. Grief, it’s all the love we had left to give!”
