Instagram Hoda's thoughts on motherhood Hoda became a mom in her fifties after adopting Haley and Hope with her ex-fiance, Joel, the couple breaking up last year after nearly a decade together. In a recent interview with People, the TV personality shared her reason for having children later in life, noting that she feels no shame about it. "I am so happy and fulfilled with my decision that I don't feel any ounce of shame," she said. Instagram The 59-year-old journalist admitted to having concerns about how much time she has left with the girls due to her age; however, she is learning to focus on the bright side, which includes the confidence and experience that comes with aging. "I see all the good parts about being an older mom. Like, I'm in my own skin, I know who I am, I've got much more patience and love and all that stuff," she added.
