Hoda Kotb is set to leave TODAY in 2025, and ahead of her exit, she opened up about the one thing she would not miss during last week’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. The 60-year-old is finally free from getting up at 3:00 AM, which she sometimes extends by fifteen minutes.
She is excited to be getting more sleep soon; however, there are many things she would be missing, such as the NBC Commissary. She jokes that her kids are only interested in it whenever they visit at work as they head straight to the ninth floor to treat themselves.
Why is Hoda Kotb leaving ‘TODAY?’
Hoda joined NBC in 1998 and became the co-anchor of TODAY in 2007, as Kathie Lee Gifford and Jenna Bush Hager joined her eventually. During a chat with PEOPLE in October, Hoda admitted that she is leaving the show to spend more time with her young daughters Haley and Hope, aged 7 and 4.
Her last day as anchor is slated for January 10, 2025, after which Craig Melvin will be promoted to take over three days later. Hoda admitted that turning 60 in August made her reflect on her life and how she needed to try new things while giving her kids more time.
What is Hoda Kotb moving on to after ‘TODAY?’
Speaking of trying something new in her sixties, Hoda teased her new project, noting that it is centered on wellness and is still in the works. She added that her recent lifestyle has inspired her new business, and friends like Jenna and Maria Shriver have tried out her offerings, and they love it.
She called for patience as she is still in the early stages of putting an app together and creating fun and helpful retreats for those who feel stressed. Hoda says leaving TODAY for this huge step feels scary; however, she is certain it is her best decision yet.
