Hoda Kotb is not just a journalist; she’s also an author and podcast host. Her podcast, Making Space, features conversations with people from all walks of life, exploring stories of strength and finding purpose. When Hoda Kotb decided to step back from her co-anchor seat on the Today show, it was an intentional choice.
Her focus is now on journaling and spending time with her daughters. She’s also working on something new: a wellness company called Joy 101, focused on finding joy and wellness in everyday life. However, the TV personality revealed that she missed working with her Today colleagues.
What Hoda Kotb misses the most about Today
Even though Hoda is fully embracing this season, she admits there’s one thing she truly misses, and that’s the closeness. She recently had coffee with her longtime co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie, and it hit her. “I miss this,” she said. “Not the work, but the everyday laughter, the deep talks, the showing up for each other.” That kind of bond doesn’t come with a calendar invite — it just is, she said.
She saw Savannah and Jenna every single day, and now, that space feels a little empty. Savannah misses her, too. “Her laugh could change the whole energy of a room,” she said. Even now, when Hoda drops by the Today set as she did in late May to promote Joy 101 and co-host an hour with Jenna, she feels the warmth.
“You really are here.”

Despite her attachment to Today, Hoda is happy with her new life as she now has time for her children. In an interview with People, Hoda shared how odd it felt at first to have a cleared-out schedule after so many years of structure. “I remember just sitting there like, ‘What now?’” she said. She remembers one moment clearly. It was her first day away from work. That morning, under a glowing full moon, her daughter Haley curled up in her lap and said, “You really are here.” It was a moment that reminded her exactly why she decided to be present in her real life.
Recently, she’s been channeling her focus into Joy 101, a wellness company built around joy and healing. With an app, live events, and a subscription newsletter on the way, Hoda’s using her voice to help others too. Beyond TV, she’s a bestselling author. Her book, I Really Needed This Today, offers daily quotes and reflections.
