During the festival, the actress posed alongside her Oddities co-star Lilimar and director Tyler Savage at the Meliá Sitges Hotel. Additionally, she received the WomanInFan Award on October 13, recognizing her contributions to film, television, and genre entertainment. Organizers celebrated her achievements with a montage of memorable performances, highlighting the versatility that has defined her decades in Hollywood. Reflecting on the recognition, Barbeau described the occasion as “the highlight of my life today.”

Beyond her latest red carpet appearance, the actress has previously discussed her approach to aging and maintaining confidence. In an interview published by The Original Van Gogh’s Ear Anthology, she recalled admiring French actress Anouk Aimée for embracing her natural appearance. Barbeau explained that she valued the beauty of self-acceptance and expressed reservations about cosmetic procedures that dramatically change someone’s features. Her recent appearance reflects that longstanding perspective on growing older.
Remembering Her ‘Maude’ Fame and Hollywood Career

Long before becoming a familiar face in horror films, Barbeau began her career on Broadway, originating the role of Betty Rizzo in the musical Grease. Her performance earned a Tony Award nomination before television producer Norman Lear cast her as Carol Traynor, the daughter of Bea Arthur’s character, in Maude. The CBS sitcom premiered in 1972 and became one of the decade’s most recognizable comedies. However, Barbeau recently admitted that transitioning from theater to television initially intimidated her because of the experience of her fellow cast members.
After Maude concluded in 1978, the actress expanded her career with memorable performances in The Fog, Escape from New York, Creepshow, and Swamp Thing. She also became familiar to younger audiences through her voice work as Catwoman in Batman: The Animated Series. More recently, she has appeared in productions including Harlan Coben’s Shelter and Duster while continuing to explore new roles. Her latest appearance in Spain celebrates both her enduring screen presence and a remarkable career that has connected generations of television and movie lovers.
