Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star is undergoing repairs after a fan reported that it had been scratched and flowers left in tribute had been taken. The damage came just one week after the country music legend died at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer.

According to TMZ, the Dolly Parton star has stood along Hollywood Boulevard since 1984, marking decades of achievement in music and entertainment. In the days after her death, it naturally became a gathering place for fans hoping to leave flowers and remember the singer behind classics such as “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and “I Will Always Love You.”

Video footage showed crews working on the Walk of Fame marker after scratches damaged Parton’s name. Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, told TMZ that the star already had cracks and that officials had previously scheduled repairs for Tuesday.

However, a fan later reported that someone had removed flowers from the memorial and further scratched the star. Crews then began replacing the damaged section, restoring a landmark that has honored Parton for more than four decades. The timing made the incident especially upsetting. Parton died in Nashville after a brief cancer battle, surrounded by loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. Her death came as a shock to many fans and even some people close to her who knew she had faced health problems.

Parton received her Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 1984, after already finding success in both music and film. Her influence only grew through Dollywood, philanthropy, and the Imagination Library, helping her become a cultural icon far beyond country music.

That makes the damage to the Dolly Parton star particularly striking in the wake of her death. Fans have been revisiting her songs, leaving tributes, and celebrating the work she created across more than six decades. The Walk of Fame marker remains one physical place where admirers can remember that legacy. With repairs underway, the star will soon once again reflect the tribute originally intended when Hollywood honored Parton in 1984. For generations of fans, it remains more than a name set into the sidewalk. It represents the lasting mark Dolly Parton left on music, film, and popular culture.
