Sixty years after Star Trek first inspired audiences to imagine a hopeful future, William Shatner is still embracing new adventures. At 95, the actor continues to stay busy with live performances, music projects, horseback riding, and creative pursuits, proving that curiosity has remained one of his greatest strengths.

According to TVInsider, as fans celebrate the enduring legacy of Captain James T. Kirk, Shatner has been looking back on the franchise that changed his life while also keeping his focus firmly on the present. His reflections offer a thoughtful reminder of why the series continues to resonate with generations of viewers.

Speaking about William Shatner’s Star Trek, the actor said the show’s lasting appeal goes beyond any one cast member. While he once jokingly credited himself for its success, he now believes the franchise has endured because of its optimistic vision of humanity’s future.

Shatner explained that the idea of people not only surviving but thriving centuries from now continues to inspire audiences. He also reflected on his own trip to space in 2021, saying the experience deepened his appreciation for Earth’s beauty and mystery. Looking down at the planet gave him a profound sense of humanity’s connection and reminded him that reality can sometimes feel as extraordinary as science fiction.

Although many actors slow down later in life, Shatner continues exploring new creative projects. He recently worked on a heavy metal album, remains active with his horses, and is involved in discussions about bringing his TekWar books to animation. He also enjoys hosting a podcast with his daughter, an experience made even more meaningful after both successfully underwent treatment for cancer several years ago.

When discussing William Shatner and Star Trek, the legendary actor revealed that his greatest motivation is learning something new every day. He joked that one of his biggest fears is leaving the world with unanswered questions still on his mind. Even at 95, he approaches life with the same sense of wonder that helped make Captain Kirk an unforgettable television hero. For longtime fans, that curiosity may be one of the greatest reasons Shatner continues to inspire audiences six decades after the Enterprise first launched.
