Country music legend Reba McEntire is marking a milestone birthday as she turns 70. The Grammy-winning artist behind such hits as “Fancy” and “Does He Love You,” took to social media to share her thoughts on her birthday. In a reflective mood, she posted the difficult circumstances of her birth, a glimpse of her early life that she has been silent about over the decades.
Reba was born on March 28, 1955, in McAlester, Oklahoma, and her birth was far from smooth. Her mother, Jacqueline, was already worn out from caring for two young children when she gave birth. Reba says that her mother’s water broke in the middle of the night, but she was too tired to do anything about it. Instead, she simply changed her nightgown and went back to bed.

Reba revealed that her father, Clark McEntire, had to drive her mother nearly 30 miles to the hospital. Once there, things became even more complicated when doctors discovered that Reba was in a breech position, requiring intervention to ensure a safe delivery.
With limited medical resources available at the time, Jacqueline endured a dry breech birth with only gas for pain relief. Reba acknowledged the strength of her mother, humorously adding that after all the struggle, she still kept her. “…so glad she did,” her caption read.
Reba McEntire continues with ACM hosting gig
As she enters a new decade of life, Reba shows no signs of slowing down. The Academy of Country Music recently announced that she will host the ACM Awards once again this year. The May 8 ceremony will mark her 18th time as host, making her the most appearing host in the Academy’s history.
The awards show will feature performances from some of country music’s biggest names, with artists like Cody Johnson and Morgan Wallen leading the nominations. Reba’s continued presence in the industry proves that even in her seventies, she remains one of country music’s most influential figures.
