“People still body shaming in 2025???” “Freakin’ let us age in peace. Stop putting us under the microscope,” were just some of the frustrated responses from women after a disgusting video made rounds on social media. This video has elicited angry reactions from women all over the internet.
It appears that no woman is safe from ageism, unhealthy beauty standards, and unfair comparisons in Hollywood. The constant scrutiny and harsh remarks over a woman’s body, appearance, clothing, size, and face shape have not reduced. This became more obvious after the video of Renée Zellweger being compared to Demi Moore went viral online.

In the clip, the two actresses were placed side-by-side, and the video had a text overlay that asked, “Would you rather look like this at 55 or look like this at 62? The choice is yours.” Interestingly, the video was using their appearances to promote cosmetic procedures. It suggested that one had aged “better” than the other. Many women found the comparison degrading, especially as it framed aging as something to be judged or despised rather than a natural part of life.
Body confidence advocate Alex Light was among those who called out the video. “This (very) viral reel is a disgusting display of ageism and body-shaming. Women deserve respect, not toxic comparisons and judgment, she said in the caption she posted on her Instagram page. She reminded people that aging is a privilege, not a flaw. Alex Light also emphasized that it is okay for women to make their own choices, and it is no one’s business whether they decide to undergo cosmetic enhancements or not.
Celebrities have always been a subject of public scrutiny
Both Moore and Zellweger have faced years of scrutiny regarding their looks. Moore, despite her success, has often been typecast and stereotyped due to her age. Zellweger, on the other hand, has been subjected to harsh criticism over her use and non-use of Botox and other cosmetic enhancements.
In response to the viral video, many women expressed their frustration. Comments poured in, calling for an end to the toxic culture of body-shaming. One Instagram user commented, “Vomit worthy. It feels like this sort of vitriol is reserved for women.”
