The decision to leave Tony Todd out of the In Memoriam segment did not sit well with many. Todd’s widow, Fatima, also spoke out, expressing her disappointment, she shared that Tony dedicated his life to film, and for him to be left out of such an important tribute was heartbreaking. Fans took to social media to express their displeasure over the omission. A fan on social media wrote, “Leaving Tony Todd out of the Oscars tribute is unacceptable. Candyman is legendary, and his influence in horror will never be forgotten.”

His representative, Jeffrey Goldberg, said he received multiple messages from industry colleagues who were frustrated by the snub. While Todd’s name appeared on the Oscars’ official website, many felt that was not enough. Fans have advised the Oscars to cut back on the skit sessions to make time for more important programs.
