2024 was a memorable year for Emmy Russell, who is the granddaughter of the famous music legend Loretta Lynn. Emmy had a big break in her music career, she made it to top 5 in the music talent show, America’s Got Talent, she released her own songs and performed on big stages.
Most importantly, in December 2024, during a live taping of the Got it From My Momma podcast with her mother, Patsy Lynn Russell, Emmy announced that she and her partner, musician Tyler Ward, were expecting their first child, a baby girl. On February 3rd, 2025, her partner announced the birth of their baby girl. Sadly, the birth was accompanied by complications.

In a video shared on their Instagram pages, Tyler provided an update on Emmy’s health. He explained that her water broke on Wednesday evening, and they had anticipated a smooth delivery, but Emmy didn’t give birth until the early hours of Friday morning. While their daughter arrived safely, the experience was far from easy. Tyler described it as a “really, really tough situation” and revealed that Emmy remained in the hospital longer than expected. Just as they were preparing for discharge, another challenge arose. Tyler panned the camera to Emmy, who shared that she required a blood transfusion due to significant blood loss.
In a follow-up video update with Emmy, Tyler, and their daughter, Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter, shared that they were back home. She added that she had to get two bags of blood due to the amount of blood she lost. The weakness she experienced prevented her from carrying her baby.
