It is hard to imagine that Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin did not get along well with each other when they first met. The couple shared their love story in Cosmopolitan’s Love Issue, thoroughly explaining how rough the journey was when they met and how they grew to be each other’s favorite.
Interestingly, the couple are now proud parents of two boys after crossing paths in 2014 at Seth Green’s house. At the time, Brenda Song had just wrapped filming on Dads, a show she co-starred in that had been canceled, and she was feeling bad about it.
Macaulay Culkin’s wife was unimpressed by him at first
Macaulay Culkin was staying with Seth Green when Brenda Song’s show was canceled, and she happened to be there. Macaulay tried to lighten the mood with a joke about the show’s untimely end, but it was not the right time for his wife-to-be. She shot him what she describes as her “evil eye,” leaving Macaulay with no choice but to excuse himself from the room.
But the story between Macaulay Culkin and his wife did not end there. Three years later, they reunited on the set of Changeland. And this time, things clicked differently. Brenda Song had been single for a couple of years. However, a friend nudged her toward Macaulay, casually remarking that he was a “safe person” to have a fling with.
What brought Macaulay Culkin and his wife together?
This advice became the move their love story needed to begin, and they started sharing deep conversations that brought them closer during long nights on set. When Brenda talked about her love for neutral names like “Dakota” if she ever had children, it meant a lot to Macaulay, who had lost his sister bearing the same name, Dakota, in 2008. “I told her, ‘I’m going to name my firstborn Dakota,’” he said.
By the end of the project, they had grown to know each other better, and Brenda invited Macaulay to spend Christmas with her family. In 2021, they had their first son, Dakota, honoring Macaulay’s late sister, and two years later, they had Carson.
