The OJ Simpson trial is often referred to as the “Trial of the Century.” This trial remains one of the most captivating legal cases in American history. Simpson, a former NFL player, was accused of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, after they were found brutally stabbed at the front of Nicole’s condominium. The bloody footprints, gloves, and hair found at the scene linked Simpson to their death.
However, in 1995, Simpson was found innocent of the murders, although later, in 1997, the civil trial held him responsible for their deaths. Nearly three decades later, Iroc Avelli, O.J Simpson’s then-bodyguard, has claimed that he has a thumb drive containing Simpson’s confession.
OJ Simpson allegedly confessed to the murders
Iroc Avelli alleged that he possessed a thumb drive containing a recorded confession from Simpson. According to Avelli, the recording detailed Simpson admitting to the 1994 murders. Avelli claimed the thumb drive was among his belongings seized by police in Bloomington, Minnesota, during his 2022 arrest for an unrelated assault case. This revelation emerged just months after Simpson’s death in April 2024.
The bodyguard’s daring claim quickly garnered media attention, with many questioning how and when the confession was made and why it had surfaced only now. Following Avelli’s revelation, Bloomington police launched an investigation into the thumb drive. According to reports, police executed a search warrant in July 2024 to examine six thumb drives confiscated during Avelli’s arrest.
The Police revealed the thumb drives didn’t contain useful evidence
Despite the allegations, authorities announced they had found no information of value on the drives. The Los Angeles Police Department, which had also been alerted to the claim, did not pursue further action following Bloomington police’s findings.
The claim of a thumb drive containing O.J. Simpson’s confession remains unverified, and police investigations have found no evidence to support the allegation.
