From Here To The Great Unknown has been rated an engaging read, keeping fans of the Presley household glued with shocking revelations about the celebrity family. While the world was worried about Elvis’ health in the mid-70s, Lisa Marie was equally worried until her worst nightmare happened the morning after a heartfelt father-daughter time.
Lisa Marie also experienced loss as an adult, after her only son Benjamin Keough committed suicide in 2020. In denial of yet another heartbreak, Lisa Marie kept the body of her son iced in her room for two months before burying him at Graceland. Riley admitted that her mother died of a broken heart, and not just post-surgery complications like reports say.
Why did Riley Keough write her mother’s memoir?
Lisa Marie left behind tapes and diary notes after she died in 2022, and Riley painstakingly compiled them to create From Here To The Great Unknown. It was Riley’s way of paying tribute to Lisa Marie while correcting some incorrect notions about her mother’s marriages, especially to Michael Jackson amid sexual abuse allegations.
Riley was also motivated by her two-year-old daughter Tupelo Storm Smith Petersson, who she believes will grow up to read about her iconic ancestors. Aside from material and recordings to complete her posthumous memoir, Lisa Marie also left Graceland to Riley, naming her trustee alongside her twin half-sisters Harper and Finley.
