Jeff Bridges has been married to Susan Geston for nearly five decades, and he admits it was love at first sight. He gushed about his happy marriage during a recent episode of the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard, who listened keenly as the iconic actor shared some wisdom.
The 74-year-old could not stop gushing about his beau, with whom he shares three children: Isabella, Jessica, and Hayley. 50 years later, Susan still unravels before him and keeps him curious and excited, which is a rare thing these days.
Jeff Bridges’ secrets to marital bliss
In all of this, Jeff believed a mutual understanding and respect between him and Susan had kept them together. Like most other couples, Jeff and Susan hit some rough patches and disagreed, but they have learned to prioritize communication and see matters from a different perspective from self.
Jeff was candid about the reality of marriage, which includes some tests that can threaten a separation. During these delicate times, he and Susan become vulnerable to each other and choose to fight for what they have built over the years rather than get a divorce.
Life with Susan Geston
Jeff met Susan while filming Rancho Deluxe in 1975, and she was working as a waitress at the time. They got talking and have never left each other’s side ever since, even through Jeff’s health challenges. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2020, followed by COVID-19 shortly after.
Thankfully, he was able to attend his daughter Hayley’s wedding despite feeling inches away from death. He also considered retiring from his entertainment career at the time, as he always hated being away from his family. Susan herself is an actress and producer with a few credits to her name, such as Cold Feet from 1989.
