Opening its doors in 1961, Dollywood is a theme park that has seen millions upon millions of patrons over the years. It offers rollercoasters, crafts, and even a spa. But it’s the bakery that has Dolly Parton fans chattering. A pie there has a price tag of $19.99 per slice and $299.00 for the whole thing.
The dessert has been featured on the Dollywood Instagram page and gained a new flavor of notoriety when its price tag was shown on TikTok. While some are floored by the asking price of this and other features of the park, others think the price is quite reasonable, giving the logistics. Where do you stand?

The Dollywood dessert in question is an apple pie, weighing in at a whopping 25 pounds. According to Unilad, it requires 40 to 50 apples to make it and was first concocted to celebrate Dollywood’s 25th anniversary back in 2010. “We’ve been dreaming of this 25-lb. apple pie from Spotlight Bakery,” the Dollywood Instagram post reads.

In the comments section of that post, fans were salivating. “Had some of that pie years ago in Dolly wood,” recalled one user, “Best ever..nothing compares to that. Simply the best!!!!” Another agreed, “The BEST! After sharing a ‘slice’ my kiddo is super picky about apple pie now!!” Unilad notes that the full pie can easily feed four people, if they want to be liberal with the servings.
The price is leaving a bad taste in some people’s mouths
Over on TikTok, footage showing the pie’s price tag has gotten a sweet and sour reception. User @stonewall_kelsey shared the video that has now gone viral, along with the in-video caption, “$230 Apple pie at Dollywood.” Meanwhile, Parton’s famous “9 to 5” is heard playing, the anthem of tired workers who will need to work overtime for a piece of the pie.
Those who saw the video were divided in their thoughts. Some said the pie had better be covered “in gold for that price” or “kissed by Gordon Ramsay” himself. But others defended the number. “Mmmmm that is 9.20/pound. Taking into consideration materials, labor, potentially specialized tools. It’s really not *that* bad of a price,” one user defended. Unilad notes that this particular Dollywood pie gets cooked in a cast iron skillet, accounting for some of the specific tools needed for this dessert. Then, it’s important to factor in the skills and labor the baker must use to create this treat, along with the availability – and subsequent cost – of ingredients.
Would you buy this pie or at least a slice?
