Denise Richards Talks About Co-Parenting With Charlie Sheen

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen co parenting issues

Denise Richards recently spoke out about her co-parenting relationship with her ex-husband Charlie Sheen. Denise and Charlie have two kids together; Sami, 15 and Lola, 13. Some of their co-parenting issues have recently been shared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where Denise is a new cast member.

In a recent episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Denise was upset when Sami got asked to a dance by a boy. She doesn’t want her girls to date until they are 16 years old. Sami calls her dad Charlie on the phone and he seems much more relaxed with the situation. He thinks it is okay if she goes to the dance with a boy at her age.

Just by one conversation, you can see that Denise and Charlie have very different parenting styles. They must learn to agree on the important issues so that they have a unified front against sometimes difficult teenage girls.

Denise and Charlie got married in 2002 but then got divorced in 2005 after a volatile marriage. Denise is now married to Aaron Phypers, whom she married last year. Now Denise worries that her horrible marriage with Charlie will affect the kids.

Their divorce was very heavily publicized and is something the girls can look up on the Internet.

According to USA TODAY, Denise said, “I just feel like I (expletive) up a lot with their dad. I don’t want them to look back on their childhood and just remember (fighting).”

She continued, “The girls have been through a lot and how I chose to relate to the dysfunction that was going on with their father was to hide it from the kids. And I don’t know if I did a disservice or not… It just made me realize how fast it goes. Life is so short and their childhood is so short.”

Charlie previously struggled with addiction and a reckless lifestyle. He is reportedly working on himself and trying to make amends with his loved ones, including Denise and his two girls.

He said this about making amends, “You make them when it’s appropriate. It’s not about making them on your terms, it’s about approaching others on theirs.”
