This 1960s Hit By Chubby Checker Made History

You probably know about twist dance style. But did you know that this dance style was born out of a popular classic hit in the 1960s? It was Chubby Checker who released a cover of famous classic hit “The Twist” in 1960 and made the twist dancing style popular. This video below features this legendary song and it will definitely leave you speechless!

This song was originally released by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters in 1959. Even though this version was popular among the audiences, the version of Chubby made the history of its own. In 1960 and 1962, Chubby’s version peaked the first position of U.S. Billboard hot 100 and 2nd in U.S. Billboard R&B singles.
