Jack Osbourne Opens Up About Living With Multiple Sclerosis

by Ruth A

Published June 9, 2026

Jack Osbourne grew up in the public eye as the son of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, but his own life has included battles far beyond fame. Over the years, he has built his own identity through television, advocacy, and a willingness to speak honestly about addiction, family, and health.

According to SurvivorNet, Jack Osbourne’s multiple sclerosis journey began in 2012 after he noticed unusual nerve pain, numbness, and later vision problems. The diagnosis shocked him at first, but he has since learned how to manage the condition and use his platform to help others understand it.

Osbourne initially dismissed the pinching feeling in his leg because he thought he had simply irritated a nerve. He later developed optic neuritis, an inflammation of the optic nerve that can affect vision. That symptom, along with numbness in his limbs, led doctors to suspect multiple sclerosis.

The diagnosis frightened him. Osbourne said he wondered if he was too young to have the disease, but he later learned that many people receive a diagnosis between ages 20 and 40. After that moment, he began researching the condition and connecting with others who had lived with it, including Montel Williams.

Since his diagnosis, Osbourne has focused on exercise, healthy eating, and managing stress to support his health. He has also become an advocate for people living with MS, emphasizing the importance of treatment advances and finding the right care plan. His message is that while the disease is challenging, people can still move forward with the right support and information.

Multiple sclerosis affects the brain and spinal cord, causing symptoms that can include vision problems, numbness, weakness, balance issues, and pain. However, those symptoms do not automatically mean someone has MS, and anyone experiencing them should consult a doctor. Jack Osbourne’s experience highlights the importance of early attention and shows that a serious diagnosis does not have to define a person’s future.
