The Osbourne family has long lived in the public eye, but when Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, the grief was deeply personal. For Jack Osbourne, the moment he discovered his father had died was both heartbreaking and unforgettable. His words offered a rare glimpse into a son’s sorrow and the love that defined their bond.

According to People, Jack Osbourne said he learned of his father’s passing in the early hours of the morning in Los Angeles. A longtime family associate arrived at his door to deliver the devastating news. That moment filled him with sadness and pain, but also with relief that his father was no longer suffering. His reflections echoed the bittersweet reality of losing a loved one, much like fans remembered when David Bowie left the stage for the last time.

In his YouTube video, Jack Osbourne described how hearing of his father’s death felt surreal. He recalled receiving the news around 3:45 a.m. and knowing something was wrong as soon as he saw who was at his door. The initial wave of grief was overwhelming, but he also felt grateful that his father’s struggles had finally ended.

He remembered Ozzy’s final performance in Birmingham on July 5, where the singer sat on a bat-themed throne and still delivered an unforgettable show. For Jack, the memory of seeing his father perform in such high spirits just weeks before his passing became a comfort. Like other famous last acts in music history, that performance turned into a defining piece of Ozzy’s legacy.

Jack Osbourne shared that he felt thankful for one unexpected twist of fate. He and his children had stayed at Ozzy’s home north of London in the weeks before his passing. A planned vacation was canceled due to illness, giving them unexpected time together. Looking back, Jack called those extra days with his father “a gift” he would always cherish.

Reflecting on the outpouring of love after the news broke, Jack admitted that it was overwhelming but also deeply validating. His father, he said, “meant a lot to a lot of people” and was truly loved by millions. The support reminded him that while his father was gone, his impact would endure. Just as tributes to Freddie Mercury live on, Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy now rests with his family and fans.
