‘Bewitched’ Reboot: FOX Developing A Modern Reimagining Of Classic Sitcom With ‘Dramatic’ Twist

A new spell is being cast over one of television’s most enchanting classics. FOX has officially begun work on a Bewitched reboot, marking the return of Samantha and Darrin’s magical love story for a modern audience. According to Parade, the upcoming series will reimagine the 1960s favorite as a heartfelt hour-long drama instead of a lighthearted comedy, offering a deeper look into the challenges of love between two very different worlds.

The Bewitched reboot will once again center on Samantha, a witch who tries to balance her supernatural heritage with her suburban human life. But this time, the story will expand on the emotional and cultural divides between her and her mortal husband, Darrin. Fans of the original will recognize familiar elements, yet the new version promises more layered storytelling as the couple navigates family tensions and societal expectations.

A Bold New Direction For A Classic

The hour-long format is a major change from past Bewitched reboots. It’s created by Judalina Neira, known for The Boys and Daisy Jones & the Six. Producer Doug Robinson, whose credits include The Goldbergs and Rules of Engagement, will join Neira to bring the project to life with Sony Pictures Television.

The shift toward drama opens new possibilities for exploring timeless themes through a contemporary lens. The Bewitched reboot connects modern viewers to the original series’ magic while exploring cultural differences, family, and love beyond boundaries. For longtime fans, it’s a chance to revisit the world of Samantha Stephens in a fresh and emotional way.

Honoring A Television Legacy

Originally created by Sol Saks, Bewitched aired from 1964 to 1972 and became one of television’s most beloved sitcoms. Elizabeth Montgomery’s portrayal of Samantha remains iconic, blending humor, warmth, and charm into every episode. Despite several failed attempts to revive the show, its legacy has never faded, proving the enduring appeal of its magical world.

This latest Bewitched reboot comes as part of a broader wave of classic television reimaginings. While it remains uncertain whether FOX will take the show to series, fans continue to hold onto hope. If successful, the project could rekindle nostalgia for a generation that grew up watching Samantha’s nose twitch and everyday magic unfold.
