‘Duck Dynasty: The Revival’ Honors Late Phil Robertson In Premiere Episode

The Robertson family is back on television, but their return comes with a personal announcement. In the premiere episode of Duck Dynasty: The Revival, airing June 1 on A&E, the family honors their late patriarch, Phil Robertson, who passed away on May 25 at age 79 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Phil Robertson was more than just the Duck Commander; he was the heart of the Duck Dynasty family. The tribute was a new beginning to another chapter of the reality series, which initially ran from 2012 to 2017 and became one of A&E’s most-watched shows. Now, with The Revival, the family has reunited to carry on the legacy of their father and grandfather.

Phil had a strong faith, wisdom, and a deep voice that steered the show’s identity and values throughout its run. In the final minutes of the new episode, they presented viewers with an in-memoriam tribute, in a scene of his son, Willie Robertson, speaking fondly to his father, who responds with a signature thumbs-up.

As the screen fades to black, a photo of Phil appears, and the words honoring his life and memory follow. Phil’s passing was announced by his family, with each member sharing touching messages and memories across social media. Willie and his wife Korie reflected on the loss of their father and grandfather, sharing appreciation for the prayers and support received.

Phil’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, posted family photos in tribute, while his son Jase shared that Phil was “now with the Lord.” Phil’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s had been publicly shared in late 2024 on the family’s Unashamed podcast, where his sons discussed the toll the disease had taken on him.

The condition had progressed in recent months, making the loss especially difficult for them.  Despite the sorrow, the family has emphasized their gratitude for Phil’s life. A private service is being held in his honor, with plans for a public memorial to be announced at a later date. As Duck Dynasty: The Revival begins anew, it brings the humor that fans remember.
