Harrison Ford and Michael J. Fox have teamed up for the third season of the Apple TV+ series Shrinking. Although this is their first time working together, Ford had nothing but glowing praise for Fox. At the Shrinking Emmy FYC Event held at the Hollywood Athletic Club in Los Angeles on Sunday, Ford expressed his appreciation for Fox’s involvement in the project.
Fox retired from acting in 2020 after decades of living with Parkinson’s disease, but made a special return for this show. Ford said that Fox’s presence on set brought something truly meaningful, not just for the series, but for everyone involved.
Harrison Ford called Michael J. Fox’s willingness a ‘great source of inspiration’
Though they hadn’t worked closely before, Ford said he was moved by Fox’s decision to join the cast despite his battle with Parkinson’s. “His willingness to be part of our show is a great source of inspiration,” Ford said. He added that it was more than just two actors working together; there was a shared purpose behind the scenes.
Ford explained that their connection grew from their shared commitment to telling a powerful story. Though he did not know Fox well at first, he quickly came to appreciate what Fox brought not just as an actor, but as someone living openly with Parkinson’s disease.
‘Shrinking’ will raise awareness for Parkinson’s
Fox’s role in Shrinking has not been revealed yet, but Ford mentioned that Fox was proud that the show is helping to raise awareness about Parkinson’s. For him, being part of the project was more than acting; it was about being honest and visible.
Harrison Ford still retains his role as Dr. Paul Rhodes, but this time, the story explores what it is like to live with Parkinson’s, from adjusting to physical changes to finding strength through tough times. The series offers a look at the journey many people suffering from the disease face, but few talk about.
