Whoopi Goldberg Collapses During Passionate Argument On ‘The View’

The latest episode of The View went in a surprising direction when Whoopi Goldberg appeared to lose her cool in the middle of a heated exchange over the reported split of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. What started as a debate about their romance quickly became an on-air moment that had everyone talking.

Earlier in the episode, the co-hosts had already discussed Pete Hegseth’s national security scandal before moving on to Lopez and Affleck’s marriage troubles. The Hollywood power couple, who rekindled their relationship and got married in 2022, have reportedly gone their separate ways in early 2025, sparking different reactions about whether or not their union was ever meant to be forever.

Whoopi Goldberg fainted on an episode of ‘The View’

As the co-hosts fought over Lopez and Affleck’s split, Goldberg became increasingly annoyed. Joy Behar took a realistic route, suggesting relationships change, but Sunny Hostin insisted that the couple had experienced “true love.” Goldberg wasn’t having it, reminding Hostin that she was among the few who believed so.

When the argument continued to escalate, Hostin insisted that love could still exist even if it was not permanent. That was Goldberg’s breaking point; she dramatically put her head down on the table, appearing exhausted after the debate. Sara Haines quickly went over to check on her, but Goldberg, never one to let a joke go, rang her bell to call an end to the debate.

Whoopi Goldberg has had some tense moments on ‘The View’

Goldberg is no stranger to passionate showdowns on The View, and this was not the first time she made the headlines for a dramatic tantrum. She has been at the centre of some of the show’s most controversial moments as a guest and as a peacemaker.

She argued with co-host Ana Navarro in 2022 regarding gun control and expressed her frustration as the exchange escalated. She also went viral yet again when she disagreed with Meghan McCain concerning the 2020 election and ordered her to stop talking. She stormed off-camera in 2023 during a heated debate on cancel culture, making it clear she was done.
