Chet Hanks has the blood of an actor and is not denying it. In a recent interview, he spoke about the influence of his parents’ work on his chosen career. The Running Point star had always known that he would venture into acting because of his family.
Having Tom Hanks, the Toy Story star, as his father, Rita Wilson, the producer of the 2008 Mamma Mia, as his mother, and brother Colin Hanks is convincing enough for Chet Hank to acknowledge that his acting ability runs in the family.
Chet Hanks’ acting career

He played the role of a Los Angeles Waves point guard, Travis Bugg, in the latest Netflix sports comedy, Running Point. Speaking with Bustle about his career, the 34-year-old shared that he had considered acting as a job because that was what his parents and older brother did, and it seemed to be a “family business.”
Chet began his acting career when he was 16 with the movie Bratz; at the time, he developed an interest in music and started rapping. Meanwhile, he noted that his role in the latest movie, Running Point, has certain similarities with his real life. His character, Travis Bugg, could be said to be “a wannabe rapper.”
Family and Hollywood
He has an added advantage when it comes to his career. Chet shared what his father considered the three most important things any Hollywood actor who wants to be successful should know. “He just said, ‘If you just know your lines, and you show up on time, and you’re nice to everybody, that gets you a long way,” Chet recalled.
In 2023, his father, Tom Hanks, spoke about the Hollywood nepotism debate and noted that his children grew up acting and that it had become common to the family. He is a great role model and supporter of Chet Hanks. Tom Hanks has four children: Colin, 47, and Elizabeth, 42, whom he had with Samantha Lewes, and Chet, 34, and Truman, 29, whom he had with Rita Wilson.
