Tom Hanks’ 33-year-old son, Chet Hanks, showed off their father-son moment on Instagram with the caption, “Gang.” Tom wore a beanie and an olive jacket, while Chet sported a hat and a black jacket over his white T-shirt.
The post has over 1,500 comments, and nearly 85,000 likes so far from admiring fans and followers. “The ultimate flex. When your dad is literally a cinematic legend,” someone wrote. “I love this, your dad is my actual favorite actor EVER! I’ve loved him since I first saw him play drunk uncle on ‘Family Ties,’” another added.

Tom shares Chet and his younger brother, Truman, with Rita Wilson. The couple married in 1988, about a year after Tom’s first marriage to Samantha Lewes ended. During the last Mother’s Day celebration, Chet posted a picture of himself and Wilson, whom he called “the biggest G I know, love you mom.”

Tom is also a father to two children, Elizabeth and Colin, whom he shared with his late ex-wife. All of Tom’s kids followed in his steps to become creatives and entertainment industry workers. “This is what we’ve been doing forever. It’s what all of our kids grew up in,” the Cloud Atlas star told Reuters last year.
The actor became a dad early
Tom became a father at 21 and has garnered a wealth of experience in parenting over the last four decades. He admitted that his children lived different lives due to his career timeline, from being a budding actor to a Hollywood icon. “I start thinking about mistakes I made with my own kids and not explaining things or not being there for them,” he said in 2019.
He confessed to being “so preoccupied with other things that are going on in our adult world,” that he was not as present for his older kids. “My son was born when I was very young. As well as my daughter,” Tom explained. “We have this gestalt understanding because Colin and Elizabeth remember when their dad was just a guy trying to, you know, make the rent. My other kids, they were born after I had established a beachhead in every way.”
Chet is known to be more controversial as he’s made headlines in the past regarding his drug addiction, being “canceled” for speaking in a Jamaican accent, and domestic violence allegations.
