It has been 22 years since Julia Roberts said “I do” to her beloved Danny Moder, with whom she shares three teenage children, Hazel, Finn and Henry. The couple got married on the same day as America’s Independence Day in 2002, and Julia has taken to Instagram to celebrate her long-lasting marriage.
The 56-year-old actress simply shared a throwback photo of herself and Moder sharing a passionate kiss, with the simple caption that read, “TWENTY TWO YEARS.” Julia wore a strappy black dress in the photo with her lush brunette hair cascading down her back, while Moder complemented her outfit with a blazer suit and a striped shirt complete with a tie.
Fans wish Julia a happy wedding anniversary
Julia’s followers were delighted at their favorite actress’s milestone and joined her to celebrate her marriage in the comments. “Happy Anniversary to our favorite couple!!! So inspired by your love,” someone wrote. “Love you two!!! Happy Anniversary,” another cheered.

Playing over the heartwarming post was Bob Marley and The Wailers’ “Sun Is Shining.” Musician Rita Wilson also left a short note for the couple, both of whom she called “Lovers!!!!!” and wished them the “happiest of days.” Red carpet stylist Elizabeth Stewart was also in the comments wishing the duo a happy anniversary.
A fun discreet wedding
Julia and Moder had a private wedding ceremony in Taos, New Mexico, two years after meeting on the set of 2001’s The Mexican. Interestingly, they lured their friends over to the event, disguising it as a 4th of July party involving poolside chats, football, basketball, and homemade food.
By nighttime—while many of those present got sleepy—the couple stood under a white and pink arch decorated with rose petals amid candles and Chinese lanterns, signaling to their guests that something special was happening. The short ceremony was officiated by Julia’s longtime friend and lawyer Barry Hirsch, and the night ended with some dancing under the stars.
