Robert Davi has expressed concern about not being called to reprise his role in the sequel to the 1985 movie The Goonies because of his political views. In an interview, the 73-year-old shared reasons for his worry and detailed his experiences with fans even though the movie has lasted a few decades.
Robert Davi brought the villain Jake Fratelli to life with his skillful acting and sonorous voice. The role became a defining one for his career in Hollywood and earned him recognition worldwide. However, seeing that he has not yet received a call to appear in the sequel, The Goonies 2, Robert Davi is worried.
Will Robert Davi appear in ‘The Goonies 2’?

Although it has been officially confirmed that Wanna Bros will be making a sequel to The Goonies, and fans are excited about this, Robert Davi, one of the antagonists in this 1985 classic, does not feel the same. His fear of not being invited for a return is reflected in his tone while he explained why he considered it necessary to reprise his role as Jake Fratelli.
Davi shared his optimism for The Goonies 2, mainly because the movie is still relevant even after many years, and fans still acknowledge and commend him for his role. He also recalled the director of the original film, Dick Donner, telling him that the movie was going to be loved by fans and would be “like the modern-day Wizard of Oz.”
However, according to him, his conservative political views seem to have disadvantaged him. The 73-year-old actor believes that the bias against him coming back again may arise from his conservatism and being outspoken about it, as he has noticed that he is not being invited to work on other projects because of his political views.
Robert Davi and politics
Robert Davi firmly believes in “free speech and not being politically correct” at all times. He supports President Donald Trump openly and agrees with him on choosing ambassadors for Hollywood.
Despite feeling left out when Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone were announced “to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,” he embraced them warmly and wished for a better Hollywood.
