Kelly Ripa and their husband, Mark Consuelos, made a return trip to Palm Springs, which is now a favorite destination for the couple on a personal and professional level. In November, the duo broadcast Live from the desert city, and while speaking with The Desert Sun in an interview, Kelly professed her love for location. She said she feels good energy when in the city.
Kelly believes that positivity is infectious and that the people of Palm Springs understand this more than anyone else. She was obviously thrilled about the destination, as she and Mark enjoyed every moment of their time there.

During her travels, Kelly re-staged a well-known poolside photograph that had fascinated art and photography enthusiasts for decades. She recalled being captivated by an old 1970s photograph, Poolside Gossip, taken by Slim Aarons. The image depicts Palm Springs realtor Nelda Linsk, wearing yellow, socializing by the pool at The Kaufmann House.
While visiting for Modernism Week, Kelly and the Live crew got to meet Nelda herself. Live executive producer Michael Gelman recreated the famous photo, using Kelly and the rest of the crew as a modern-day proxy for the scene. She even shared pictures of herself with Nelda, in awe of the original photo.
Why do Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark, visit Palm Springs?
Kelly and Mark’s annual pilgrimages to Palm Springs revolve around Modernism Week, a festival celebrating mid-century and modern architecture, art, and interior design. The 11-day celebration includes everything from home tours of houses with vintage furniture to upscale estate sales.
It also serves as a mini-vacation for the couple. This year, Kelly remarked on Live that their first day in Palm Springs was welcomed with unexpected rain, but that did not stop her from getting around, as she logged a total of 11 miles of walking. Compared to the snowy New York City, Palm Springs provided the sun and upbeat atmosphere they both prefer.
