As Little House On The Prairie turns 50, co-stars Alison Arngrim and Dean Butler reunited for an interview where they discussed their experience filming the classic and secrets from the filming process. This comes amid other feats such as the release of Dean’s autobiography, The Prairie Man, and Alison’s Confessions of a Prairie Bitch.
The cast’s attempt at a fan convention flopped, however, thanks to inadequate planning by organizer Jack Bishop of Gravel Road Markets LLC. Thankfully, the cast reunited earlier this year in California, receiving fans and signing autographs for days at the Simi Valley.
Alison Arngrim and Dean Butler appreciate the support so far
Alison Arngrim admitted Little House may have been underwhelming at first until more young people began watching to become loyal fans. She is grateful that five decades later, people are still traveling from all over the world and waiting in line to attend their events and meet the cast.
Dean agreed with his castmate, saying the classic has created a community of people sharing the same interests and helping each other out. He recalled stepping out of his tent to a line half a mile long and full of excited fans at the convention ground this year.
Dean Butler and Alison Arngrim share fun memories and secrets from filming ‘Little House on the Prairie’
Alison and Dean played Nellie and Almanzo in Little House and made memories during filming, including their cinnamon chicken scene, where Dean added some pepper to Alison’s chicken, and they began eating it together under intense distress from the heat. Dean also admitted he did not plan to make the chicken so hot, though it was delicious.
Per each co-star’s book release, and their new podcast together, Alison says it has been fantastic working with Dean and hosting celebrity guests on some episodes. Dean also commended his co-host for being committed to Little House’s legacy and for connecting so well with fans.
