How To Watch ‘Little House On The Prairie’ 50th Anniversary Documentary

Little House On The Prairie

To honor the 50th anniversary of Little House on the Prairie, NBCUniversal Local’s national multicast network, COZI TV, will premiere the film’s hour-long original documentary. The NBC series debuted in 1974 and ran for nine seasons until 1984.

Loving Little House: The 50thAnniversary Celebration gives a behind-the-scenes look at the set in Simi Valley, California, plus the recent reunion and milestone festival that took place there in April. The documentary will run from September 9 to 25 on the network, which also shows The King of Queens, Married… with Children, Frasier, Columbo and Monk.

There will be interviews from cast members such as Melissa Gilbert, Alison Arngrim, Melissa Sue Anderson and Dean Butler, who will all share their experiences on the show, and pay their respects to the late creator and director Michael Landon.

The Vice President of COZI TV Programming and Promotion said it was a privilege to provide passionate fans around the world with an inside look into the making of the classic and the starring actors’ lives. He praised the show as a part of American culture, giving viewers insight into life on the Prairie in the 1800s.

Life in the  ‘Little House’

Cast members on Little House on the Prairie credit the show for positively impacting their Hollywood careers. Melissa, who joined as Laura Ingalls Wilder at 9, said growing up on that set was one of her life’s greatest gifts. Others like Rachel Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush share similar sentiments, as they starred in the series young.

The late Landon, who played Pa Ingalls was already famed upon joining the show, however his work as director and producer on Little House remains one of the highlights of his career. Sadly, he died from pancreatic cancer in 1991 but was posthumously inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame four years later.
