Meghan Markle is going all out to put a smile on the faces of LA fire victims. The Duchess of Sussex recently joined other Hollywood stars to surprise a teenager whose life had been upended by the disaster. She shared a video of her visit to a ravaged community in Altadena, California, in an Instagram post.
In the video, Meghan recalled how she and her husband, Prince Harry, traveled to an area where the flames had reduced homes to ashes just a few weeks ago. It was there that she met a mother and her 15-year-old daughter and immediately felt compassion for her. However, this kind gesture came when some labeled the couple as “disaster tourists.”

Meghan Markle was determined to help the teenage LA fire victim after hearing that the only thing she longed for in their home that had burnt to ashes was a Billie Eilish shirt from a concert she attended. Even though Meghan did not personally know Billie Eilish, she decided to reach out. She then recorded a voice note, where she urged some of her celebrity friends to help locate the singer and connect the teenage girl in need of the shirt.
Thankfully, Meghan Markle’s persistence was not a waste. Billie Eilish responded by sending over merchandise as a gift for the teenager. Meghan thanked Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, for assisting her to get the package. Then, she promised to reach out to the teenage girl’s mother.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry labeled disaster tourists
She and Harry have been a subject of public scrutiny since stepping down from their royal duties and releasing their latest controversial memoir. Despite criticisms and earning the tag disaster tourists from their previous visit to the Pasadena evacuation center, the couple is focused on their philanthropic act.
Meghan Markle is unmoved by the harsh comments, and she is even determined to help more victims. With support and help from other kind-hearted people, the victims of the wildfires can receive comfort and regain stability during this difficult period.
