Macaulay Culkin has recently opened up about the scar he got from the evergreen Christmas series Home Alone. Even though it has been over three decades since the movie was filmed, Culkin shared one of his experiences on set with the dynamic Joe Pesci, who played the role of the burglar, Harry Lime.
Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin McCallister, has always told stories about the filming of Home Alone but only did so briefly. However, in recent times, the actor has become more comfortable sharing his experience on the movie set.
Joe Pesci bit Macaulay Culkin’s finger while filming ‘Home Alone’
While filming Home Alone, Joe Pesci got a scar on his finger from a blowtorch, which was meant to burn his character, Harry’s head, during an unsuccessful burglary attempt. However, it seems he was not the only one injured during production. Being one of the two thieves at Kevin’s home, he was supposed to act aggressively, but he got too into the moment and bit the child actor a little deep on the finger, which left a scar.
Macaulay Culkin shared this during his tour A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin, featuring special screenings of Home Alone, and moderated interviews and audience Q&A sessions to help fans relive the classic movie and have a discussion with him about his experiences during its production. “I saw his face — and I’ve never, ever seen Joe Pesci actually scared,” he shared. “Because he’s like, I just bit a kid!”
Macaulay Culkin now
After Macaulay Culkin gained international recognition through the Home Alone Christmas series, he appeared in other successful and popular movies such as My Girl (1991) and Richie Rich in 1994. However, he took a break from acting later and decided to live a normal life. He would later pursue his music career with his band Pizza Underground.
Although Culkin has starred in other movies, his role in Home Alone remains attached to his career as he often revisits moments from the production. The Home Alone house has also become a fan destination, and Culkin considered buying it in 2021 “just for giggles.” However, he did not eventually purchase it.
