Paulina Porizkova Shares Painful Reason Behind Her Recent Weight Gain

Paulina Porizkova opened up about gaining weight after her surgery last year. In the throwback bikini pictures she shared online, the supermodel told her fans about her notable size increase due to her hip replacement surgery in January 2024.

Paulina revealed that she should have undergone the surgery very much earlier as it was “long overdue.” She was born with congenital hip dysplasia which could cause complications and her hips had “worn down.”

In her recent post, Paulina Porizkova shared old pictures of herself, comparing what she used to look like before her surgery and weight gain. She revealed that she had gained an extra 15lbs without noticing it.“The funny thing is, I was so happy with my life; the end of chronic pain, building a life  with my love, traveling with friends, and working on new writing projects – that I had no idea I had gained all this weight until I went to Paris for my first modeling job of the year. Which was in September.” She captioned the post.

The 59-year-old supermodel said she became aware of her weight gain as soon as she realized she did not fit into her clothes like she used to. “Which of course WAS and IS my job. To fit the clothes!” She said. However, according to her, it has been rather difficult to lose some weight and continue her job. She has cut back on her food, protein, and desserts, but her weight remains the same.

Aging and public opinions

Paulina Porizkova effortlessly flaunts her aging body despite the ugly comments she receives online. She often speaks up for women who are being bullied by society because of the developments that come with their age. She revealed that she was a victim of this as she felt “invisible” at 50.

“There’s so much shame heaped upon us for everything. The way we look, for the way we age, for our weight, for our skin, for the way we dress. I mean, It’s just endless freaking shame, and menopause is just another thing to be ashamed of because you’re no longer ‘a viable woman.’”
