Paulina Porizkova underwent hip replacement surgery after announcing that it was long overdue in January. The former model was born with congenital hip dysplasia, causing her hip bone to wear out over time due to joint friction. Before the surgery, she treated herself to a vacation and she shared memorable moments from the getaway.
Four days post-operation, Paulina took to her Instagram page to announce that she could now walk with minimal pain and her prognosis was looking good. More recently, the 59-year-old came back with another heartwarming update, encouraging fans to get their hips replaced if necessary to live less painful lives.
New hips, new life
The gorgeous mother of two has no regrets undergoing hip replacement surgery, seeing that her well-being has become better for it. From her recent social media post, she has “biked over 200 miles, danced and walked anywhere from five to 10 miles a day with my new hips” so far. Although she is not completely pain-free, Paulina admits to feeling less discomfort than before.

Accompanying Paulina’s post was a photo of her mother Anna Porizkova, in crutches with a nurse behind her. Anna wore a pink and white floral dress, with a pair of trainers as she strutted around with her new hips two hours post-op. “Hers was unilateral, and knowing my mom, she’ll be doing splits in two weeks,” Paulina shared.
Paulina thrives amid health concerns
Paulina has been candid about her personal life on social media, particularly her health, love life, and aging. She expressed gratitude to her doctor, Roy Davidovitch—whose specialty is anterior hip replacements—for his sense of humor and transparency. Paulina Porizkova has confessed to the hip replacement surgery recovery process being harder than she planned for, as she had to overcome anxiety about using her lower limbs again.
The 58-year-old even made the mistake of bending over to pick up an item, leading to her hips dislocating and popping. Thankfully, it was an easy fix with some rest, ice, and physical therapy. She proudly wears her scars and whips out a swimsuit photo now and then, proving to her fans that you can be fabulous even when your hips are not perfect.
