He shared the stage with legendary singer Al Green, as they both did a moving duet of Green’s 1971 classic, “Let’s Stay Together.” The crowd was treated to a soulful performance as the two legends sang alongside a live band, surrounded by instrumentalists who elevated the moment to magic.

The wholesome moment was captured on social media, and fans marveled at the unexpected collaboration. Freeman took to X to show off photos from the night. “We ushered in the New Year with Al Green and Kingfish at Ground Zero last night. Happy New Year, everyone!” he wrote.

A clip of the performance went viral on Instagram thanks to CNN’s Oscar Jimenez. He shared a video of the rendition, and his caption noted that Morgan Freeman got on stage to make his dream of singing with Al Green come true. The wholesome show sparked reactions from Jimenez’s followers.

One comment read, “Was I the only one who thought Al Green was dead? I’m so glad he’s alive. Turn up!” “What a blessing to be in that room … once in a lifetime moment,” another gushed. Even country music star LeAnn Womack chimed in, saying, “I would actually leave my house on NYE for this.”
