Vincent Price’s daughter Victoria Price had a recent chat with Fox News Digital where she revealed the dynamic between her dad and her stepmother Coral Browne during the festive holidays. She recalled how Vincent Price would buy his wife a gift she hated every year, and how her disdain did not stop him from making it a tradition.
The King of Horror Vincent, who was famous for his roles in House on the Haunted Hill and Edward Scissorhands, always bought large jewelry for his last two wives, Edith Barett and Mary Grant Price, and it was no different for Coral even if she swore never to wear them.
Vincent Price’s wife had to put up with his many pranks
Price was quite the prankster, so he enjoyed gifting Coral the same chunky bone butterfly necklace he got her after a trip to Poland in the mid-70s. She was also biased towards this piece of jewelry because Price gifted the same piece to Victoria’s mother, Mary.
For the 18 years of their marriage, Price would present gorgeous packaging such as a Tiffany box to Coral, only for her to open it and see the same old neckpiece. Victoria was also a victim of some pranks and Vincent once left corroded dentures under her pillow instead of money from the Tooth Fairy.
Vincent Price went big during the holidays
Also knowing when to get serious, Price did not joke with holidays and always ensured to keep them memorable. Victoria recounted details of their traditional family Christmas celebrations which involved opening stuffed stockings, having sweet rolls and eggnog as a family and presents.
Their Christmas tree was so big that they had to source them where department stores got theirs due to the size of their high-ceiling house. Victoria even got her own Charlie Brown-themed tree to play around with. To close out the year, Price would go all out during New Year’s Eve with a band and dancing.
