Candace Cameron Bure played D.J Tanner in Full House from 1987 to 1995 and reprised her role in the five-season sequel Fuller House, which ended in 2020. She admitted during a recent episode of her How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast with co-star Andrea Barber, who said that she had not watched the sitcom in years.
The duo revisited the “Three Men And Another Baby” episode from season three, where the Tanner family has to watch the neighbor’s baby while Joey, played by Dave Coulier, has to help Bure’s character with homework. Reviewing the episode helped Bure come to terms with why Full House remains a classic after nearly four decades since its debut.
Candace Cameron Bure just watched ‘Full House’ for the first time in years… her honest thoughts?
Bure admitted to her costar that she had not seen Full House in many years, and seeing season three’s episode 22 shows how sweet and cute the sitcom is, hence why it has never been off the air. Its successful run in the ‘90s birthed the spin-off series Fuller House, where the original cast reprised their roles except for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who both played Michelle Tanner.
Nostalgic fans can rerun Full House on ABC, and those with a Netflix subscription can enjoy the modern-day sequel. It got canceled by the streaming platform due to declining viewership and how much the younger audience struggled with the storyline.
Life beyond ‘Full House’
Full House and Fuller House both remain a big part of the cast member’s life as they birthed a group of friends beyond the set. It also put them in the spotlight, with Bure moving on to become Hallmark famous and a regular in faith-based movies.
Bure reunited with her castmates in October at the Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine event in Los Angeles. This was held to help raise money for Scleroderma Research in honor of their late colleague Bob Saget, who was dedicated to the cause in his lifetime.
