When people remember the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, the first thing that comes to mind is cosmetic surgeries. However, what most people won’t understand is the reason for the multiple procedures. After his death in 2009, the autopsy document revealed he had several scars on his nose, base of neck, arms, wrist, and hands.
His bodyguard of 10 years, Matt Fiddes, revealed the real reason Michael had nose surgeries done. “He used to get teased by his family a lot over the size of his nose,” Matt said in a recent interview. “Being called big nose and all of this stuff.”
Michael Jackson’s father is one of the reasons his nose surgeries
Apart from his family members calling him “big nose,” his father took his time to especially victimize him. “You didn’t get that from me,” Joe Jackson used to say concerning his nose. “You got that from your mum, you didn’t get that from my side of the family.”
The verbal and emotional abuse laid the foundation of the low self-esteem the singer suffered throughout his lifetime. In a 1993 interview he had with Oprah Winfrey, he spoke about how Joe made him feel, “There were times when he’d come to see me, I’d get sick.” Michael stated. “I was so scared of him that. I would regurgitate.”
An opportunity came
Living with the feeling of an imperfect nose, Michael seized an opportunity to reduce the size of his nose when he fell during a dance rehearsal “Michael used to dance about three hours a day on average. At one stage, he was doing 50 spins in a row — it was unbelievable,” Matt recalled. “He fell over and broke his nose.”
Although, Michael said he only recalled having two nose surgeries, his fans speculated he had several during his lifetime considering the fact that his nose looked different at every point in his life.
