Elvis Presley’s bedroom and bathroom where he died have been out of bounds to the public, who visit Graceland all year round to experience the late Rock ‘n’ Roll king’s residence. Even during his lifetime, he ensured both spaces were out of bounds to all except by invitation.
While most have no idea what Elvis’ upstairs abode looks like, his ex-wife Priscilla Presley and granddaughter Riley Keough are among the few who have access today. Graceland’s Vice President of Archives and Exhibits, Angie Marchese, is also allowed in the restricted room.

The Graceland mansion had an open area available to all, but on the way up was a security wall plus a mirror so Elvis could see who was approaching. There was his office, dressing room, and his late daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s room, and then his bed area and the bathroom where he was found unconscious in August 1977.
According to Angie, who is tasked with preserving Elvis’ private living area, the place remains as he left it 47 years ago. She noted via an Instagram post that her job is to keep things intact, including the record player with the last tape Elvis played still in and the styrofoam cup on the bookshelf.
Elvis Presley’s fans get curious
Angie hosted a Q & A session on Graceland’s official Instagram, promising to answer fans’ questions and give them details they never knew about Graceland and where Elvis died. She mentioned that the fresh recording of JD Sumner and the Stamps was the tape in the recorder.
She has yet to play the song, but Stamps performed at Elvis’ funeral in Graceland. A fan asked if, one day, the bedroom area will be open for special viewing at additional cost, noting that they are just as curious as everyone else to see it in the flesh. “I think we all want to see his bedroom, but we have to have respect for his privacy was also the last room in the house that he occupied, and he died up there,” another said in defense of the family.
