Will Aunt Jemima Be Returning To Syrup Bottles After Mass Removal? Sources Say

by Peace A

Published October 24, 2024

There have been rumors about Quaker Oats. Co. plans to return Aunt Jemima to its previous syrup bottle packaging after pushback from the public. Multiple pages across Facebook and X peddled this yet-to-be-confirmed claim.

No verified media outlet has announced the news, which includes the name change from Pearl Milling Co. This rumor is likely false as a page named ALLOD on Facebook with the intro “nothing on this page is real,” has it uploaded.

According to a fictional story by ALLOD on The Dunning-Kruger Times, a certain Derek used to work for a company that delivered Quaker Oats to local convenience stores, which would, in turn, sell at an outrageous profit margin of about 500%.

His friend in distribution, Dale, had a girlfriend in Human Resources whose mom worked with the company. Rachel’s mother worked with Quaker Oats between 1982 and 1991 and claimed to have heard voices in her head speak about the Aunt Jemima transition.

Is Aunt Jemima making a comeback?

Amid the news of an Aunt Jemima comeback getting peddled online, including a made-up response from Quaker Oats that read, “Our customers have spoken,” there is no evidence of the talks being true as the name remains Pearl Milling Co. with the same branding.

PepsiCo made these changes in 2021 due to the protests following George Floyd’s death in 2020, as people felt the branding and logo alludes to racial stereotypes. On the packaging was the photo of an older slave woman or mammy, and the name derived from the “Old Aunt Jemima” minstrel song from 1875.
