Ted Danson and Kelsey Grammer had a little moment of reconciliation on the former’s podcast, Where Everybody Knows Your Name, with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (sometimes), where they spoke about their time on Cheers.
Danson extended the olive branch, admitting that he recalls getting angry at Kelsey once during filming. Kelsey immediately remembered the incident, which Danson blamed for creating so much distance between them that he missed out on his friend’s life in the past few decades.
Ted Danson apologizes to Kelsey Grammer over decades-old argument never resolved
Kelsey wasted no time accepting his friend’s apology, admitting he wished they had spent more time together after Cheers. He assured Danson of his unwavering love, poetically attributing its nature to the sun’s rising. Despite keeping in touch for years after, it appears their friendship is just getting relieved of that one burden.
To relish their friendship, Kelsey praised Danson for giving him good advice despite their disagreements. The 69-year-old joked about how Danson, 76, came up to him when he turned 40 in 1995, joking that he was “finally” worth having a conversation with.
Life after ‘Cheers’
Danson and Kelsey reunited after Cheers for the spinoff Frasier, where they each reprised their previous roles. Following that, they continued to pursue their acting career, earning accolades and awards along the way. Danson seemed to explore other roles than Kelsey, who portrayed his fan-favorite character Frasier Crane in commercials and a reboot.
Kelsey is currently working on NBC’s revival of Frasier, which is being renewed for season two. The comeback sees a retired Frasier Crane returning to Boston from years of work in Chicago. With the absence of some original cast members like David Hyde Pierce, new faces have been woven into the plot.
