Three members of the Cheers cast Ted Danson, Woody Harrelson and George Wendt reunited on the Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast, where they discussed a moment from their past when they went on an adventurous journey to Catalina Island. It was also Ted’s first time doing mushrooms, which he ended up regretting, witnessed by his Cheers colleagues.
Woody had offered Danson the hallucinogen while they were on John Ratzenburger’s new boat called the Boston Whaler. The trio confessed to missing work to take John’s latest purchase for a ride, as he was excited about showing it off.
Danson’s worst four hours with mushrooms, accompanied by the cast of ‘Cheers’
Danson recalled having an excessive amount of mushrooms because he was hungry, and everything seemed fine until he began having trouble breathing. He then turned to Woody who seemed relaxed—likely because it was not his first rodeo with the drug—and panicked even more.

Kelsey Grammer was also on the boat as they sailed from the California coast to the Island but slept the whole time, despite the big leftover waves from a previous hurricane. Woody then joined his troubled co-star on the upper deck of the boat, but rather than seeing him, Danson recalled seeing “Woody The Skeleton.”
Back to shore
Thankfully, Wendt did not partake in the mushroom feast and was the only sane person awake on the boat. He recalled being seasick due to the waves, but strong enough to help calm Danson down during his episode. On getting back to shore, the boys realized they were in trouble for leaving without permission.
Despite the unpleasant experience Danson went through, he noted that he would not mind another go at the mushrooms. Meanwhile, fans remain hopeful for a Cheers reunion, even though it continues to appear unlikely. Danson addressed the quest for a reboot, noting earlier this year that they were off excelling at other endeavors.
