With the recent turn of events since Ryan Seacrest took over as Wheel of Fortune host following Pat Sajak’s retirement, the TV personality wishes he never took the offer. The backlash and harsh criticism he has received from viewers so far makes him see his new job as a major mistake.
A source revealed that Ryan is on the verge of giving up as Wheel of Fortune fans seem to have an issue with everything he does on the show. He also cannot stand the constant comparison to Sajak, who anchored the show alongside Vanna White for over 40 years.
Ryan Seacrest reportedly regrets taking on ‘Wheel of Fortune’
It appears there is no winning with Wheel of Fortune fans, who have refused to give Ryan the benefit of the doubt in his first season; hence, the 49-year-old is reconsidering his duration on the show. He is also getting pressure from inside the house, as producers expect better from him since he is getting nearly twice Sajak’s pay.
Ryan has also been accused of getting cosmetic procedures done to appear youthful and appealing to the audience. His efforts to win fans’ hearts have proved abortive, and it is likely there are discussions about replacing him according to fans’ wishes.
To stay or leave?
Amid this tension, Ryan is also juggling other endeavors, including his new cooking show and presenter duties at American Idol. Being on Wheel of Fortune and seeing all the comments online has allegedly affected his self-esteem and ability to function at his other jobs. He is reportedly seeking therapy to deal with his feelings, as his reputation and confidence levels are taking a hit.
Ryan took on his Wheel of Fortune duties with enthusiasm and excitement, and could not care less about the ratings since Sajak’s last few episodes saw a significant drop in views. Boosting his confidence was the 57% increase for season 42’s premiere; however, the negative feedback may suggest people tuned in out of curiosity and not excitement.
