The new season of Wheel of Fortune featuring Ryan Seacrest as host has been met with disappointment from fans, who believe he is not a fitting replacement for Pat Sajak. There have also been rumors about Sajak making a comeback to salvage the show’s legacy if rating drop this season.
A source clarified that Ryan Seacrest‘s position is not under much threat, as his ratings have been fair so far. Regardless, his job is still at stake since he has yet to win over most of the viewers and still needs to work on his chemistry with co-host Vanna White.
Fans still call for Pat Sajak back at ‘Wheel of Fortune’
Sajak retired from hosting duties in June but still maintains a say on Wheel of Fortune as a consultant. Although fans are calling for his return to the game show, reports say other programs are interested in bringing him on board; however, his ties with Wheel of Fortune may prevent that.
The source noted that Sajak’s massive international following, his wealth of experience and wits, plus his impressive fitness at 77 still keep him sought after. They added that Sajak is an exec-favorite, who is aware that he can walk up to any network and pick a show to host without hassle.
Ryan Seacrest under fire for first week episode
Amid efforts to secure his spot in the hearts of viewers, Ryan got into trouble with them after a contestant named Airica risked and lost a $1 million prize. Airica initially landed on the million-dollar wedge, then a $1,000 one that she could risk or take. She chose to risk it, but Ryan advised her against it, leading to bankruptcy.
They accused the new host of not explaining how much was on the table to the loser, which is what Sajak would have done. “Pat would always remind the contestants if they look under the $10,000 they could lose their $1 million wedge. Ryan needs to do this too,” someone advised. Thankfully, Ryan’s debut performed well with 47% more views than the previous season’s premiere.
