BRAT premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival in New York, with the likes of Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy, and Demi Moore in attendance, amongst other St. Elmo’s Fire stars. The BRATS documentary by Andrew featured interviews with these stars, and others like John Cryer, Lea Thompson, Molly Ringwald who were all part of the “Brat Pack.”
Celebrities in attendance looked stunning, including Demi, who wore a white sleeveless shirt and matching pants with her long, lush hair let down in a middle part. She posed with her longtime “fellow brats” who all looked happy to her again.

It has been four decades since David Blum coined and popularized the term “Brat Pack,” which referred to a group of young actors from coming of age movies such as St. Elmo’s Fire, Less Than Zero, and Pretty In Pink. The public soon embraced the term, to the dismay of Demi and her co-stars, who felt it diminished their efforts and painted them as privileged rather than talented.

Due to how the documentary was set up, Demi was unable to physically unite with her old friends since interviews were done, and she admitted that this was her only regret about the new release. She commended Andrew for an excellent job.
The Brat Pack hated their name
To the public, the Brat Pack was a cool title with a non-conformist twist. However, the named actors, including Demi, hated it and claimed to have lost business relationships as a result. Andrew later came to appreciate the experience, which, in Demi’s words, helped put them in the spotlight. Fellow Brat Pack member Rob Lowe was one of the few to maintain a neutral stance about their title and simply felt “really lucky” to be a part of it.
Andrew, on the other hand, claimed the term “Brat” overshadowed his career for decades, prompting him to wonder if fellow Brat Pack members shared similar sentiments, hence the documentary. Blum had coined the moniker from a former clique, The Rat Pack, which featured Frank Sinatra, David Bloom, and Sammy David from Hollywood’s golden age.
