Bob Saget is being remembered on his 68th heavenly birthday, with his widow, Kelly Rizzo, offering a particularly poignant tribute to his memory. The two have been married since 2018, although the two met in person back in 2015 at one of the comedian’s shows.
That might have been their first in-person meeting, but the story of their first interaction goes even deeper. “He saw my Instagram, and he’s like, ‘Oh, it’s not all selfies and bikinis. Like, she actually does stuff. She has this food show and travel show. She seems interesting,'” recounted Rizzo, who is a television presenter and the creator of the web series Eat Travel Rock TV.

On May 17, Rizzo, like many of Saget’s Full House co-stars, took to social media to pay tribute to his memory. Her post includes a video of Saget on the evening of one of his birthday celebrations. He can be seen receiving a slice of cake topped by a Roman candle firework as he wears a broad smile.

“Forever celebrated, forever loved, forever remembered, forever in all of our hearts,” Rizzo captioned the post. “Happy Birthday. Forever grateful for these memories, and this last birthday celebration together. Forever happy I got to see a smile on his face and happiness in his eyes. Look at how happy he was.”
In the captions, Rizzo went on to share a “cute” story from the night that video was taken. A mosquito bite had Saget itching and itching until the bite bled. So, he went to the front desk asking for a Bandaid. There, “four different restaurant workers frantically got him a Band-Aid and they all put the Band-Aid on him as if they were performing surgery.”
The couple had an unexpected yet perfectly fitting start
Saget died unexpectedly on January 9, 2022, at the age of 65, due to head trauma hours after he performed a comedy routine on stage. In the years since his passing, Rizzo has been paying tribute to his memory after the two got an unorthodox start the stars had to align perfectly for.
On TikTok, Rizzo shared how Saget contacted a friend of his in a similar field as Rizzo and asked if the lady whose Instagram so intrigued him was nice, going so far as to ask, “Is she is b—?” His friend assured him, “No, she’s really nice actually. Yeah, I know her.”
Rizzo was given a heads-up that Saget would be reaching out. “I was like, ‘Eh, I don’t know about that,'” she recalled. “But then he sent this. He said, ‘Hey, want to come to a show of mine, then go out for some burgers and lobsters?’ And I was like, ‘OK, we can be friends.’ And then I was like, ‘Oh no, I kind of like him.’ And then we got married.”
If that isn’t true Bob Saget fashion, little else is.
